Automated Power Capacitor Test System

An automated power capacitor test system and conveyor handling was designed, comprised of seven independent test stations and automatic conveyor with manual load and off-load stations.


The seven tests are performed in sequence, including capacitance test (pre-discharge and post-discharge), short-circuit discharge test, DC voltage tolerance test, case-to-bushing hi-pot test, AC voltage capacitance loss test (tan δ), and internal resistance test.


This turnkey system included material handling, test fixtures, 120kVDC power supply, 35kVAC 1000kVAR resonant test reactor (tan delta measurement), data collection system, laser tag-marking systems, test room and associated safety systems.  System integration included installation and start-up support in China.
